The Department of International Law at the University of Graz was founded in 1967 and has been operating under the name "Department of International Law and International Relations" since the academic year 1970/71. In teaching and research, the Department deals with questions of public international law, the law of international organizations, and international relations. Teaching covers both the foundations of public international law as well as current problems in international law and international relations. The Department maintains close relations with domestic and foreign teaching and research institutions, is regularly involved in international and domestic research and cooperation networks and is in frequent contact with Austrian and international law practitioners. Members of the Department are represented in numerous academic associations as well as in national and international expert bodies.
