► Univerzity Palackého v Olomouci and University of Graz Cooperation Project 2023: Reconceptualizing the prohibition and regulation of the use of military force in international law:

The aim of this research project is to establish a research cooperation between the Centre for International Humanitarian and Operational Law (CIHOL) at the Faculty of Law of the University of Palacký and the Department of International Law and International Relations (Department of International Law) at the Faculty of Law of the University of Graz.

The following results of the cooperation project are expected:

  • First, the establishment of a research cooperation on the use of force in international law. This includes the development of a roadmap for research cooperation, which will show how the departments of the two universities can best exchange knowledge and research in the respective fields.
  • Secondly, the organization of two guest lectures, one at Palacký University by a researcher from the University of Graz and the other at the University of Graz by a researcher from Palacký University. A "roundtable discussion" is planned as well as the nomination of a postgraduate researcher or student for a short-term research exchange.

Another goal of this research project is to organize and hold an international conference that will examine the current state of the prohibition and use of force in light of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The conference took place in the summer of 2023 at the Faculty of Law of Palacký University.
Following this, a book proposal on the results of the conference will be submitted to a leading publisher.

The cooperation project will be carried out over a period of 24 months.
