The Institute of International Law and International Relations proudly announces a book launch event for the 2nd edition of the book “Freedom of Expression and the Internet” written by former head of institute Prof. Wolfgang Benedek and former institute member and visiting lecturer Matthias C. Kettemann.
The second, updated edition of this introduction into the protection of freedom of expression online answers essential questions regarding the extent and limits of freedom of expression online and the role of social networks, courts, states and organisations in online communication spaces. In clear language, with vivid examples spanning two decades of internet law, the authors answer questions on freedom of expression in cyberspace.

An introduction by Jan Kleijssen, Director of the Information Society and Action against Crime Directorate, Council of Europe will be followed by a presentation of the book by Wolfgang Benedek and Matthias C. Kettemann as well as a Q&A session on the biggest challenges to protecting freedom of expression online.
