Book presentation: The European Union and Customary International Law

The Institute of European Law and the Institute of International Law and International Relations invite you to the book presentation "The European Union and Customary International Law" by the editors Fernando Luso Bordin, University of Cambridge, Andreas Th. Müller, University of Innsbruck and Francisco Pascual-Vives, Universidad de Alcalá, Madrid.

Today, the EU functions in many contexts as an addressee, but also as a co-creator of customary international law rules. Against this background, the contributions collected in this volume analyse the various facets of this complex relationship. The focus is both on the view "from the outside", i.e. from the perspective of international law, of the EU as a subject of international law, and on the view "from the inside", i.e. the question of what place and what effect customary international law has within the framework of the Union legal order. Finally, there is also the "intermediate view", where synergies and interactions between customary international law and Union law are explored.

These different perspectives will be discussed during this book presentation: Prof. Dr. Gerhard Hafner Hon. Prof. Mag. Dr. Andreas Kumin

We look forward to seeing you there and ask you to register at europarecht(at)uni-graz.at by 20 March 2023.

You can find more information about the event in the official invitation and on the event page.
