In his presentation, Prof. Benedek, as head of the OSCE expert mission, presented the most important results of the investigations as well as the question of how those responsible for the violations identified can be held accountable in the future. In addition, the general functioning and challenges in the implementation of the OSCE's Moscow Mechanism for Investigating Alleged Human Rights Violations were discussed in detail. Prof. Benedek's lecture provided an important impetus for further discussion in the plenary, especially in view of the particular topicality of the issues raised.
The Institute of International Law will continue to follow future developments in the investigation, determination and condemnation of violations of international humanitarian law and human rights violations in Ukraine.
The presentation of the OSCE report by Prof. Benedek thus constituted the last lecture in the inaugural semester of the GILDS event series. The Institute of International Law and International Relations would like to thank all speakers and guests of the previous events and is already looking forward to many interesting discussions in the coming semesters. The GILDS programme for the winter semester 2022 will be announced soon.
