In the summer semester 2020 a new course will be offered at the Institute of International Law and International Relations. It concerns a seminar (to be offered in German) on ‘Fundamental Questions of International Law: Sources, Subjects and Jurisdiction’. It will take place on 14.05.2020, 15.05.2020 and 18.05.2020 under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Erika de Wet, LL.M (Harvard).
The seminar will critically analyze the term international law, as well as its historical development, including the (ir)relvance of the monism and dualism theories. In addition, the most important sources of international law will constitute a focal point, as well as whether not only States but also international organizations, de facto regimes, multinational enterprises and individuals constitute subjects of international law. The seminar will further also devote attention to the law applicable to the jurisdictions of States over territory and persons.
