Rome Statute, Quo Vadis?
Presentation at the Nottingham International Criminal Justice Conference (Anna Lena Hörzer)
The interdisciplinary Nottingham International Criminal Justice Conference 2025, organized by the Nottingham School of Law in collaboration with the International Criminal Justice Unit of the Human Rights Law Centre, took place from July 14 to 15 at the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom. The conference addressed pressing issues such as crises, politicization, and future visions of international criminal law.
During this event, Ms. Hörzer had the opportunity to present a talk titled “Rome Statute, Quo Vadis? Current Debates on the Limits of (Criminal Liability in) a Human-Centric International Criminal Law System.” In her presentation, she discussed the increasing erosion of the prevailing anthropocentrism in international criminal law, which manifests on various levels, particularly through the potential expansion of legal personality at the levels of both the subject and object of the crime.
Ms. Hörzer is grateful for the valuable insights she gained for her respective publication and dissertation through stimulating discussions with renowned representatives from academia and practice during the conference.
Special thanks go to everyone who made participation in the conference possible.
