In light of the election in Hungary, university assistant Rareș-David Chioreanu now also refutes in the Kleine Zeitung the argument that an election victory legitimizes “constitutional disobedience” against illiberal regimes. He explains that disregarding the constitution is neither legally permissible nor politically wise. Instead, the article advocates for cooperation, institutional continuity, and gradual reforms to overcome existing, politically entrenched structures. Constitutional disobedience carries the risk of further undermining democratic principles and reinforcing authoritarian dynamics.
