Erika de Wet at a panel discussion marking the 20th anniversary of the ILDC

ILDC

Head of the Department Prof. Erika de Wet, LL.M. (Harvard) will participate in a panel discussion on August 20, 2026, to mark the 20th anniversary of International Law in Domestic Courts (ILDC).

As part of the 82nd Conference of the International Law Association (ILA) in Vienna, a special lunchtime event celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Oxford Reports on International Law in Domestic Courts (ILDC) will take place on Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The ILDC is a database and publication series that has been in existence for 20 years and systematically collects and annotates decisions by national courts on issues of international law.

Following opening remarks by ILDC co-editors Prof. August Reinisch, LL.M. (NYU) (University of Vienna) and Prof. André Nollkaemper (University of Amsterdam), as well as a presentation by Prof. Riccardo Pavoni (University of Siena) on the role of domestic court decisions in the area of immunities, a panel discussion on the topic “ILDC at 20” will follow, moderated by Prof. Antonios Tzanakopoulos (University of Oxford).

Participants in the panel discussion include Institute Director Prof. Erika de Wet, LL.M. (Harvard) (University of Graz), along with Dr. Céline Brauman, B.Sc., LL.M. (NYU) (University of Vienna) and Prof. Cedric Ryngaert (University of Utrecht). The panel will discuss the evolving role of national courts in the development of international law.

The event will also be streamed here.
